Have You Ever Made Forbidden Rice?

Watch Video Here!

It’s actually called Forbidden because it has such high nutritional value only the Chinese emperor was allowed to eat it.

1/2 cup cooked Forbidden rice contains
8 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber!

Perfect for blood sugar balance.

Here’s how we love to make it:

We finely chop 1/4 cup of red onion
mince 2 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon of curry powder
1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
salt and pepper

sauté it all in 1 tablespoon of butter for 5 to 10 minutes

then add 1 1/2 cups of raw Forbidden/black rice, sauté together for five more minutes

Then toss everything into a rice cooker
add organic chicken broth
Pour in enough broth to cover the rice and the first knuckle of your pointer finger. This will keep the rice nutty and prevent it from being too soggy

put on the lid and press the button
It takes about 30 minutes to cook

Sometimes we also add a bit of cayenne pepper!

Kids love it, we all love it!

Enjoy!!
