When I've been in Europe, I've noticed they often serve "digestif teas" after dinner. So I decided to start making my own from fresh herbs growing in my garden or leftover in my fridge. I serve them on this Italian tray my dear friend gave me.
Herbs have so many amazing health benefits!
I use these three herbs because I have tons of them growing in my garden yet look...
MINT : Good for IBS, relieves indigestion and excellent for my old eyes!
FENNEL: Good for relief from anemia, indigestion, gas, constipation, diarrhea and menstrual problems.
OREGANO: Good for aching muscles, asthma, cramping, diarrhea, indigestion, colds and overall health. Associated with JOY & HAPPINESS according to the Greeks and Romans! (Perfect!)
And if you bought a big bunch of basil and it's sitting in your fridge with nowhere to go....make it into basil tea. Look at it's bennies..
BASIL: Helps maintain skin health, boosts digestion and detoxifies the body aiding in disease prevention.
I put a big handful of each in a pot of water. Bring to a boil and then let sit for an hour to infuse all the goodness. You can also pour boiling water over the herbs in a tea pot, yet I prefer it my way because I can make large quantities all at once.
Pour into cups and serve as an after dinner digestif to your guests OR after the herbs seep, pour into a big mason jar and refrigerate and drink cold any time of the day!
Happy Digesting!
